Diy bat wall decor

Image
So excited for fall and Halloween we got started quick this year. Last year I did the bats going up my wall and it was such a big hit I got so many compliments on it. This year I knew I wanted them to come out of the fireplace. We used a black poster board from the dollar store last year. Those held up fine so I was able to reuse them this year. I didn't have quite enough to go all the way up to the ceiling from the fireplace, so I looked at what I had around the house and just used some of my kids black construction paper. I folded the paper into fours and cut out the bat shape. None of them are perfectly cut out bats but you can't really tell once they are hung up. I hung then up with duck tape. Bend the sides of the wings so they become more 3d. Then vailoa!! I would say this diy cost under 2$ not factoring in the time to cut them out and put tape on the back. But if you have kids I'm sure they love to help.  If you don't want to d...

Easy cheap muted dollar store pumpkin diy

Image
Been scrolling and pinning fall color schemes and I think I found the one I want this year. My eyes were drawn to the muted green and pale orange. Here is a quick tutorial on how I achieved this look.  I turned these cheap looking dollar store pumpkins into these adorable muted chalk pumpkins. These are the shades I used. For the green ones I just mixed those green shades together. I tried to change it up on each one to achieve different shade of green.  First cover the pumpkins with a chalk or matte white paint for a primer. This is a great technique to help save some time. I always use chalk paint so I had some on hand this is the brand I used. But I only used a very small amount. So this one below would work fine depending on the amount you do. This one is very cheap. click here for link to Walmart for this brand   Once that dries start painting with your Matt acrylic. Make ...

2020 Really? Why is this year so insane? I never thought I would see a time like this or my kids would experience something like this. Kindergarten was off to such a great start we were all so excited. My son was going to the same Elementary school I went to. I had a new energy and outlook on life. I was ready to do everything I could to help my kid be the best and brightest little apple. He did great all year and impressed me like no other. Then 2020 happen and their year was cut short he missed dances, the Talent show, even his Kindergarten Promotion 😢 where they get to walk the stage in a cap and gown. Liam was going to receive a AR medal he had been working hard to get. He still got it just wasn't in the same light. It is what it is we made the best out of it with distant learning. We stayed focused on getting work done from home but I think we all thought that it would return back to normal and that it was only temporary. But nope...the new school year rolled arou...
