Coronavirus what??? 1st grade Virtual distant learning here we come!

2020 Really? Why is this year so insane? I never thought I would see a time like this or my kids would experience something like this. Kindergarten was off to such a great start we were all so excited. My son was going to the same Elementary school I went to. I had a new energy and outlook on life. I was ready to do everything I could to help my kid be the best and brightest little apple. He did great all year and impressed me like no other. Then 2020 happen and their year was cut short he missed dances, the Talent show, even his Kindergarten Promotion 😒 where they get to walk the stage in a cap and gown. Liam was going to receive a AR medal he had been working hard to get. He still got it just wasn't in the same light. It is what it is we made the best out of it with distant learning. We stayed focused on getting work done from home but I think we all thought that it would return back to normal and that it was only temporary.

But nope...the new school year rolled around and yup here we are. This year felt a bit different from kindergarten. The back to school shopping didn't feel as exciting, well to me it didn't my son wouldn't of known cause I still made it exciting for him. I made all of it a big deal as if he was going back to in person learning. New pencils, notebooks etc. We still did our back to school photos like we did for kindergarten.

We are staying positive through this all. If I shut down we all shut down. I'm channeling my Mrs. Frizzle.(magic school bus teacher) I'm incorporating our own learning on top of what the school provides. We have been working on building our own solar system We have been researching about the moon. Which is super exciting and half the stuff we are learning I had no clue about either πŸ˜‚. Here is a moon phase chart I printed off. It's super exciting to see how the moon changes every night.

To get ready for this whole at home schooling I turned the house into a school. Literaly I have a teeter totter in the dining room once it's cools down it will go out side but it's summer here in Vegas it's hot. I always had a play/learning/reading area but I got it a lot more organized and a new look. I love using Chalk markers daily.  We use the brand Chalkola markers because they are the easiest to wipe off so we can customize our chalk boards daily.

We hang up the art they both do!

One good thing is my youngest Teagan gets to have her brother home all day.
She joins in when he has specials, watches videos and read allowedbooks.
First couple days were rough she would cry during his live lessons but now she understands he comes right back out.

We have been getting our craft on for art class!

We are making the best of it. The first couple days were rough and the kids couldn't figure out the mute button during live class on google meets, half the class would have to pee in the first ten minutes lol. But it seems to be smooth sailing now. I just hope it returns to normal this year.πŸ™
If your reading this thanks for making it to the end.
